Family Counsellor – Strong Families and Community Team (HR295)
Full Time Temporary (12 months, 37.5 hours per week)
$55,418 - $62,774 annually

Position Summary
Our strength is our people, who together with their diverse backgrounds create a workplace where excellence is valued and the atmosphere is both collaborative and forward-moving. Presently we are looking for skilled counsellors to engage children, youth, and families in creating change in their lives and communities. 

As a member of the Strong Families and Community Team, you will engage with children, youth, couples and families in a client-directed way, in the context of their community.  These positions will be focused upon family systems interventions as well as group modalities.  Flexibility, an ability to engage and work within the community, an interest in working with family structures, as well as being skilled in, or a willingness to be trained in, evidenced-based practices are  necessities. Regular group work will be required; facilitation skills and an understanding of group process would be of benefit.  An understanding of attachment, social emotional learning and mindfulness are assets.   Evening work of one evening per week as well as a flexible schedule is expected.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of a  Master’s degree in Social Work or Applied Psychology/Counselling Psychology
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in a clinical setting preferred
  • A passion for working to create change with families
  • Proven experience in brief solution focused therapy is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work both as a member of a team, as well as independently
  • Effective clinical engagement strategies, innovative and client-centered approach
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible in time and place of work
  • Knowledge of a second language is an asset but not required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Current registration with a relevant professional association, as well as all necessary security clearances, is required.
