Family Counsellor, Brief Service – Strong Families in Community (HR291)
Full Time Temporary (12 months, 37.5 hours per week)
$54,332.00 - $56,021.00 annually

Position Summary

Currently, we are looking for a skilled counsellor to engage children, youth, and families in creating change in their lives and communities.  

As a member of the Strong Families in Community Team, you will engage with children, youth, couples and families in a client-directed way, in the context of the client’s community. This position has a focus on brief family systems interventions and service navigation support with the goal of ensuring timely, coordinated and integrated service delivery across carya programs. Evening work of two evenings per week with some additional flexibility is expected.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of a  Master’s degree in Social Work or Applied Psychology/Counselling Psychology
  • Current or in progress registration with professional regulatory body i.e.  ACSW, CAP, or CCPA
  • 3  years experience in a clinical setting preferred, with training and experience in single session counselling an asset
  • A passion for working to create change with families
  • Proven experience in brief solution focused therapy preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to assess client needs from a family systems perspective
  • Demonstrated ability to work both as a member of a team, as well as independently
  • Effective clinical engagement strategies, innovative and client-centered approach
  • An understanding of attachment, social emotional learning and mindfulness are assets
  • Working knowledge of data management systems is required
  • Strong organizational abilities and experience balancing multiple demands
  • Knowledge of a second language is an asset but not required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Current registration with a relevant professional association, as well as all necessary security clearances, is required.
