HULL SERVICES – POSITION OPENING

KINNECTIONS – Full Time Temporary Kinship Facilitator

Kinnections is a partnership program between Hull Services, and McMan Youth, Family and Community Services Association, and as such works collaboratively to deliver services in Calgary and Area. The Kinship facilitator will be responsible for conducting assessments and providing supervision and support for caregivers and their families in his/her provision of care for children. The Facilitator will report to Hull’s Program Coordinator, and will work as a member of the Program, Agency and larger kinship community of practice.

This full time temporary role requires a flexible work schedule that includes some evening work and occasional weekend work. Staff also share in the after-hours on call rotation.

Funding for this position is available until the end of March 2019, with a possibility for extension in the upcoming contract year.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Regular in-home visits with kinship caregivers and children.
  • Caregiver support with resourcing and wellness promotion.
  • Building caregiver capacity using trauma-informed, developmentally sensitive approaches.
  • Representation of the children’s needs/interests with individuals across a variety of settings i.e. school.
  • Attendance at case conferences and meetings.
  • Sharing in the facilitation of caregiver group training and occasional group childcare responsibilities.
  • Completing assessments, writing reports, maintaining files, administrative duties.
  • Liaison between Children’s Services, the kinship family and members of the child’s team.
  • Flexibility to be on call and work some evenings/weekends.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • A degree preferred in a related field. Diploma may be considered with relevant family work experience.
  • Sound clinical judgment working with children and families from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent self-care practices (wellness).
  • Skilled in the areas of crisis management, conflict resolution, advocacy and team collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, with personal accountability.
  • Excellent written, administrative and organizational skills.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle. Adequate third party liability insurance may be required if transporting persons served.
  • Some experience with adult learning is preferred, but not necessary.
