Who we are:

At the Canadian Cancer Society, we offer you a place where you can use your talents to make a difference – a place where you can help save lives while fulfilling your own. We are the largest health charity in Canada, and we’re the only cancer charity in the country that is fighting back against all 200-plus cancers. We are looking for a permanent full time External Engagement Manager in our Calgary or Edmonton office to join us in the fight.

Who you are:

You are a highly-organized strategic leader with exceptional communication skills. Your attention to detail is impeccable and you are able to manage competing deadlines and multiple projects at once.  You have the drive to innovate and produce compelling, creative communications programs that affect public policy, community awareness and/or fundraising. You have the demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with government officials and administrators, media representatives and community partners.

How you'll contribute:

  • Motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.
  • Provide strategic leadership in planning, executing and monitoring external engagement plans, including public policy and marketing communications strategies.
  • Balance multiple priorities and use superior relationship skills to engage diverse stakeholders

A University degree in Public Relations, Marketing or Journalism and a minimum of 5 years experience in communications, public policy or government relations work required.  An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite are needed.
