JOB POSTING - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Alberta Association of Midwives (AAM) is searching for a dynamic leader to fill the position of Executive Director. Reporting directly to the AAM Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will work to lead the Strategic Plan of the AAM. The ED’s scope of responsibility includes oversight of the administrative, financial and human resources operations of the AAM, in addition to supporting the governance work of the Board of Directors.
The ED is responsible for creating and cultivating a culture of professional respect and diversity for clients, midwives, staff and community.
HIGHLIGHTED RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Providing effective leadership and governance support: Implement and Support the work of the AAM Board of Directors, including the development of an Operational Plan to implement AAM strategic directions, and the organization’s vision, purpose and values; Ensure the execution of a robust quality management program; Ensure that the development and implementation of new programs is consistent and adaptable to AAM member needs and desires.
Manage financial resources of the AAM, including: Developing an annual budget for presentation to and approval by the Board of Directors and members; Ensuring that the operating parameters established in the annual budget are achieved and that control of operating expenses is within budget, including investigation and explanation of any variances; Ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial accounting and reporting activities.
Facilitate partnerships with external service providers, community agencies, educational institutions and other healthcare providers.
Manage human resources of the AAM including: Recruitment, retention, performance management and organizational development.
Masters level education, or Bachelor degree with congruent experience. 5 years experience as Executive Director preferred. Demonstrated business acumen, particularly program development, management and implementation/facilitation experience or in combination with other relevant experience; Proven ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with community based organizations, volunteer Boards, and government agencies.
Knowledge of and understanding of Midwifery legislation, regulation and management and knowledge of Alberta Society Law are desirable.
