Evaluations Coordinator

Working within all program areas of the organization, the Evaluations Coordinator will support continuous monitoring, evaluation and data collection processes. The Coordinator will work with HIV Community Link (HIVCL) Directors to ensure client and staff engagement in program development and evaluation; to develop, implement and support ongoing data collection and evaluation processes; and to strengthen and articulate the application of evidence-based and emerging promising practices into HIVCL programs and services.

The Coordinator will assist in the identification, research and development of funding proposals for a variety of stakeholders including government, industry and foundations. This position requires a professional who is passionate about the principles of harm reduction, committed to evidence-based community services, and a self-directed learner who is eager to build subject matter expertise in the diverse health and social issues addressed through HIVCL programming.

The Evaluations Coordinator works primarily from the HIV Community Link offices in Calgary. This is a 35 hour per week role, with regular office hours on Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Some flexibility for evening and weekend hours may be required. The position will report directly to the Director of Programs.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Continuous development, implementation, evaluation and improvement of HIVCL programs
  • Ensure incorporation of evidence based and promising practices into service delivery
  • Continuously monitor, evaluate and improve current data collection processes
  • In coordination with consultants and Directors, support the design and develop data models and database architecture for new and changing programming
  • Support and implement regular reporting processes to support agency and funder requirements
  • Develop data quality standards and monitor data collection practices across the agency
  • Develop and deliver training programs and educate staff on database software
  • Create policies and procedures to ensure continuous quality improvement of data management
  • Research and grant writing support

Qualifications and Key Competencies:

  • Minimum post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline, Masters preferred
  • Minimum of two years’ Evaluations experience
  • Experience working with information systems including a comprehensive understanding of data collection, analysis and evaluation systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel
  • Experience in the human/social services sector with a demonstrated knowledge of community based programs and services
  • Knowledge of social and health issues addressed through HIVCL programming e.g.) social determinants of health, harm reduction, sex-work, HIV, drug use, under-served populations
  • Foundational knowledge of, and theoretical orientation to, intersectionality, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive practice frameworks
  • Proven planning, organizational, analytical and administrative skills
  • Demonstrated problem solver, critical thinker with an ability to identity and analyze operational needs
  • Self-starter and resourceful; demonstrated commitment to self-directed learning
