Director of Community Services

Enviros Director of Community Services


The Director of Community Services is a full time position that works with, and reports to the Chief Executive Officer. This person is responsible for the implementation, management, supervision and the evaluation of all Enviros community-based programs in accordance with the Canadian Accreditation Council standards. As a member of the Executive Management Team, the Director of Community Services participates in strategic planning and budgeting initiatives in addition to problem solving. You will work within the guidelines, policies and mission of Enviros and will be accountable and responsible for specific projects as assigned.

Director of Community Services will:
  •  Provide positive leadership to all staff, encouraging a team approach, professional attitude and good board/staff relations, always modeling best practices in this regard
  • Support the direction, planning and coordinating of the work of the program staff including supervision and evaluation, training, professional development and team  building to support quality service delivery in the organization
  • Compile, maintain and report on the monthly, quarterly and annual program statistics
  • Develop, implement and review the agency Quality Assurance Program, Policy Manual and Risk Management Plan.
  • Conduct regular performance appraisals with program team members, providing constructive feedback and direction as to improvement.
  • Analyze trends in the program, identifying issues and developing and recommending solutions to the Chief Executive Officer
  • Ensure that programs are compliant with budget planning and reporting procedures;
Community Relations / Advocacy
  • Promote Enviros visibility
  • Communicate with stakeholders to keep them informed of the work of the organization and to identify changes in the community served by the organization
  • Maintain good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, politicians, post-secondary institutions and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the organization
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of issues and trends in experiential education, evidence-based social service programming, wilderness/adventure-based programming and risk management
  • Ensure Enviros’ participation in relevant experientially-based conferences and events

 The successful candidate will have a Master’s Degree in Human Services and/or combination of University undergraduate in Human Services (or equivalent) and minimally 8 years of front line and supervision experience.
