Corporate Reporting Analyst

Reporting to the Coordinator, Corporate Reporting and working within a team of four Analysts, this role is responsible for analysis and the provision of financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders.  The Corporate Reporting Analyst is expected to develop accounting expertise in all areas of GAAP relevant to SAIT, especially Public Sector Accounting Standards, and the ability to critically evaluate accounting options and propose recommended courses of action with supporting documentation.

Job Description


  • Compile and analyze quarterly and year-end financial statements in Caseware.
  • Prepare and analyze working papers in support of monthly, quarterly, and year end balances including variance.
  • Prepare information submitted to the Audit Committee and Board of Governors as required.
  • Provide guidance and support for the treatment of accounting transactions, and explanation and interpretation of financial reporting for schools and departments across the Institute.
  • Act as the steward of SAIT’s government grant tracking and reporting process, coordinating the record-keeping for grant and donation contributions, and ensuring revenue recognition criteria are met.
  • External Reporting including T2 corporate tax returns, Charity returns, Government reporting entity submissions, Statistics Canada reporting.
  • Review and process changes to the chart of accounts in Banner ERP and Caseware systems.
  • Maintain current knowledge of changes in PSAB and other sources of  GAAP accounting standards, provincial and federal legislation and regulations; ensure SAIT is following industry best practice and remains compliant at all times.
  • Act as a key Finance resource for clients; collaborate with Departments and Schools across campus to provide Banner General Ledger training, guidance on revenue and expense allocation, and treatment of grants on an ad-hoc basis
  • Develop and maintain a strong collaborative culture within the Corporate Reporting team and with Finance colleagues
  • Work effectively in a fast paced environment with changing priorities



  • Minimum of a business or accounting diploma or degree.
  • Hold an accounting designation or is in the process of completion.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a corporate accounting environment.
  • Extensive experience with financial modules within ERP systems.
  • Experience in a post-secondary or public sector accounting environment preferred.
  • Experience with Caseware software preferred.
