Community & Neighbourhood Services Coordinator

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Provide professional level expertise in the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of:
    • Community Development e.g. Strategic objectives and activities associated with developing, implementing and monitoring a Neighbourhood Connections Strategy; the development of an inclusive community e.g., WIC, CMARD, Regional Inclusion Forum, Age Friendly, etc., and community development as a community convener, liaison, facilitator and network builder, e.g., Inter-Agency Luncheons and associated Sub-Committees, School Council Liaison assignments, Community Focus Groups, workshops, training etc. 
    • Program planning, development, implementation and evaluation, e.g., develop, implement and monitor community building programs as assigned, (Block Parties, Community Garden, Seniors Lunch and Learns, WIC, CMARD, Age Friendly, etc.) evaluate outcomes and complete program reports (develop and administer client feedback questionnaires, report results; collect data, take registrations, track program participation, etc.) and meet reporting requirements for funders..
    • Provide program and referral information to residents of the service area, e.g., provide appropriate support, information, print materials, contacts or referrals to clients and professionals who phone, e-mail, walk-in or are referred by other agencies, support outreach to the community as a liaison to other organizations and community service agencies; collect and share information from these community groups with residents and stakeholders and act as a representative of Community Services and FCSS
    • Build community capacity at the agency and neighbourhood level e.g., support local neighbourhoods, populations, agencies and service providers through the provision of relevant workshops, training, education and support, contribute to grant proposals on behalf of the CS department. 

Seniors Community Liaison-e.g., represent CSD on various seniors groups and initiatives such as the Action Group for Aging in Place (AGAP), Chestermere Senior’s Coalition, and the Seniors’ Week Planning Committee, liaise with the Whitecappers, support capacity building efforts for seniors through activities like the lunch and learn workshop series, and other workshops and capacity building trainings and opportunities, introduce and champion an Age Friendly Community development strategy. This position provides professional support in the attainment of annual goals and initiatives within the broader framework of the City/Department’s annual and 4 year Strategic and Business Plans.
