Communications, Research, and Policy Coordinator

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Executive Director of CAUS

 

Organizational Status: Part-Time

 

Compensation: $22-25/hr, for 80hrs/ month (20hrs/week)

 

Date of position establishment: Upon approval by the membership

 

Requirement of work / Work Location: Flexible (Remote, and In office)

 

Position Summary:

 

The successful candidate would be primarily responsible for research, review, writing, and development of policies and position / research papers related to CAUS’ advocacy.


Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to and assist with CAUS’ Policy Committee and Research Committee* priorities
  • Review of and recommendations based upon government legislation, external stakeholder programs, policies, and reports related to post-secondary education and CAUS’ approved mandate 
  • Work with the Executive Director and Chair to engage in consultation with external stakeholders to develop and maintain relationships to inform the policy, research, and publication priorities determined by CAUS’ membership
  • Prepare a variety of written documents, such as briefing notes, literature reviews, presentations, data and analytical reviews, and other resources at the request of the Executive Director and/or membership of CAUS
  • Engages in annual review of the organization’s policies to ensure accuracy and relevancy
  • Developing materials and messaging for external communications, including, but not limited to campaigns, publications, and relevant industry updates

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

 

  • Relevant education and/or demonstrable work experience related, but not limited, to post-secondary education, research and policy development, political science, policy studies, communications, and public and/or government relations
  • Excellent research, quantitative, and analytical skills 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to analyze and succinctly summarize data into accessible language 
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, alongside a self-driven work ethic
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and milestones
  • Able to work with a team, and independently 
  • Ability to work on a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
