Communications Coordinator

The Communications Coordinator is the organization’s lead in developing communications and marketing materials for the general public, CAUSE Canada donors, and foundations. This position is also responsible for donor administration (approximately 20% of the position).This position is 1.0 FTE (37.5 hours per week), located in Calgary, Canada, and reports to the Executive Director.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop the organization’s newsletters, Annual Reports, and website, and other key marketing and communication materials.
  • Identify key opportunities to outreach for the organization in Canada.
  • Track CAUSE Kids sponsored children. Develop and implement communications between individual children and their sponsorship donors.
  • Develop and implement social media strategy for CAUSE Canada.
  • Provide donor administration for the overall organization.
  • Organize volunteers to support events and other activities.
  • Support, and in some cases lead, special projects as identified within the organization.

Specific Tasks:

Communications and Marketing

  • Annually develop and implement a communications work plan for current and potential partners including individual donors and foundations.
  • Identify key opportunities for outreach for the organization.
  • Develop all of CAUSE Canada’s key communications materials including Annual Report, newsletter, CAUSE Kids communications materials, etc.
  • Update and develop the website content to ensure that it is current, appealing, and functional.
  • Provide leadership in developing and implementing strategies for outreach via social media.

Donor Reporting and Administration

  • Provide donor administration for the CAUSE Kids program and the overall organization (about 20% of time).
  • Work with field staff as needed for reporting to donors including identifying key dates, timelines, and necessary data.
  • Provide support in reporting to various foundations as needed.

Volunteer Coordination and Special Projects

  • Act as the point person for liaising and organizing volunteers for CAUSE Canada events including the Half-Marathon, the annual gala and other regular and irregular projects.
  • Support and where appropriate lead special projects for the organization.

Skills Required:

  • Education and experience in communications or marketing.
  • Ability to work within a Christian framework and sensitivity to its various expressions across cultures and denominations.
  • Strong writing skills are required.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Able to problem-solve and to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of, or experience in international development.
  • Computer skills – Excel, Word, etc., are required. Experience with InDesign and/or website use is considered an asset.
  • Experience in database input and management particularly with @Ease is considered an asset.
