Business Development Manager for Language Bank

Duties will include:

Business Development:

  • Coordinate all functions related to the Language Bank’s mandate, projects, funding, staffing, and day-to-day operations and management
  • Coordinate all contracted as well as fee-for-service activities
  • Identify and outreach potential clients, including individuals and organizations
  • Provide leadership in long-term strategic planning to establish a sustainable business model for the Language Bank
  • Develop, promote and maintain effective partnerships which provide opportunities for business development, community outreach, or expansion of clientele and services
  • Explore, identify and pursue beneficial business and funding opportunities

Administration/Operations:

  • Ensure that ongoing records of all aspects of Language Bank’s activities, including client records, are maintained in a concise, comprehensive and accurate manner to meet accountability requirements
  • Oversee the timely completion of comprehensive program evaluation activities, including the collection of data, measurement of outputs and outcomes, collection and review of user feedback, as well as analysis and reporting of collected data and information
  • Conduct formal evaluation of the Language Bank and its employees on a regular basis
  • Supervise and provide program direction for all Language Bank employees, in alignment with their job descriptions and accountability frameworks
  • Conduct within set timeframes new staff orientation, ongoing staff training and professional development.
  • Ensure all required program reports are completed in a timely and professional manner
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets for the Language Bank, in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer
  • Recruit qualified freelance interpreters and translators and maintain an accurate, updated database
  • Administer the CILISAT test and online interpreter training
  • Administer the Language Bank’s financial activities.

Other Duties:

  • Attend and assist in organizing and facilitating Language Bank and agency meetings, including Senior Management Team meetings, project team meetings, monthly department meetings, advisory committee meetings, all staff meetings, etc.
  • Attend external events on behalf of the Language Bank or ISC, including professional development events, inter-agency meetings, professional networking events, community connection events, etc.
  • Perform translations and interpretations as needed
  • Perform other relevant duties that may be assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in managing or developing a business or social enterprise 
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Excellent English ability with exceptional skills in verbal, written and electronic communication
  • Proficiency in a second language
  • Strong interpersonal skills coupled with cross-cultural sensitivity
  • Certificate or accreditation in Interpretation and/or Translation is an asset
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, etc.)
