Benefits Administrator

HULL SERVICES- POSITION OPENING

BENEFITS ADMINISTRATOR

Reporting to the Controller, the Benefits Administrator position is temporary of a three month term with possibility to extend. The main responsibilities for this role are benefit plan administration, claims support, payroll support and other administrative support.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Benefits Plan

  • Enroll new employees or transferred employees and distribute cards and benefit information packages
  • Manage all changes to the benefits plan on the plan provider website and payroll system
  • Reconcile the benefits invoices to the payroll reports monthly and make the appropriate adjustments with the plan provider or on payroll
  • Terminate benefits coverage for terminated employees and those changing to a position that doesn’t qualify for benefits
  • Determine health spending and personal spending allocations annually, distribute memo to request employees’ preference, submit quarterly allocation reports to plan provider and update the monthly allotments in the payroll system
  • Manage employee questions and complaints
  • Maintain communication with the benefit company representatives and the benefit consultant.

Disability Claims

  • Meet with employees to explain the disability plan
  • Manage compilation of the employee statement, the physician statement and the employer statement
  • Submit the completed claim to plan provider
  • Follow up on claims, keep a current track record, request a ROE, notify changes to other related departments, make the status changes in the payroll system.
  • Create payroll adjustments for each disability employee, and ensure all entitlements affected are correctly managed
  • Make the supervisor aware of the anticipated return date

WCB

  • Submit claims upon receipt of incident reports
  • Record all claims and record claim submission date on the incident report and pass on to the Agency Nurse
  • Manage any time missed claims, working with WCB and supervisors to organize modified duties and time
  • Ensure WCB payment is received for all time missed claims

Savings and RSP Plan

  • Notify employees when eligible and help them with the enrollment
  • Arrange information sessions for employees to discuss RSP investments with the providers

GoodLife Fitness Corporate Partnership

  • Enrol and terminate employees and their dependents as requested
  • Ensure the correct deductions are set up for payroll
  • Request payment for the monthly invoice and reconcile the account to payroll

Employee Education

  • Present benefit information at the staff Orientation sessions
  • Assist employees whenever they have benefit questions
  • Arrange RSP information sessions (required annually)

Payroll

  • Gather payroll information for youth support workers and fostering parents and enter the payments into payroll system upon approval obtained
  • Assist the Payroll Administration when needed
  • Perform payroll readings to ensure an accurate payroll

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum two year post-secondary diploma
  • Minimum three year work experience with benefit, and working knowledge of benefits regulations, and legislation
  • Intermediate to advance Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience with Avanti is an asset
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and analytical skills
  • High ethical standards and professionalism
