United Way of Calgary and Area is the largest non-government source of funding for human care and community support programs in the Calgary region. United Way of Calgary and Area is looking for a Coordinator and Administrator to join the Campaign Engagement team. This is a fixed-term Contract position beginning as soon as possible through to December 29th, 2017.  Reporting to the Team Manager, the Coordinator and Administrator will provide comprehensive administration and relationship support for United Way’s facilitated engagement activities. This role contributes to the success of our campaign activities by increasing awareness of United Way.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Proactively communicate and coordinate immersive and experiential activities (including tours, tradeshows, poverty simulations, etc.), acting as a key point of contact to agencies, workplaces, and United Way staff.
  • Strategize, and implement ongoing improvements to, experiential activities processes, materials and activities.
  • Coordinate events and activities: logistics, sourcing and booking venues, creating and managing registration lists, material preparation, activity setup and additional event support as needed.
  • Deliver data tracking and other reporting to support the assessment of strategic/tactical initiatives undertaken and day to day operations.
  • Communicate with companies regarding Day of Caring® opportunities.
  • Book and Coordinate Day of Caring® and collection drive activities as needed.
  • Provide the Campaign Engagement team with administrative support.
  • Keep records of general Campaign Engagement expenses.
  • Become a content manager for SharePoint and ensure Andar data is reader friendly and accurate.
  • Ensure all internal and external campaign staff and volunteers receive an exceptional level of customer service.


Experience and Skills:

  • 1-3 years of coordination and/or communications experience.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a relevant field is preferable.
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector an asset.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Professional manner in dealing with people, including the ability to organize others.
  • Strong communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to cope with disruption, priorities changing and demanding deadlines.
  • Innovative outlook in finding more effective processes and taking initiative to implement.
  • Ability to plan and organize, determine priorities and allocate resources effectively.
  • Knowledge of Andar database and SharePoint software an asset.
  • Calm, focused and discreet with a dedication to excellence and professionalism.
  • Initiative and demonstrated willingness to assist when required.
