Program Coordinator

Youth Central is a dynamic, creative and energetic non-profit organization, with the mission to “inspire, engage and celebrate youth through community participation.” 

 

This position is responsible for the operation of the Youth of Distinction Awards, Calgary Youth Foundation, and TD Youth Earth Ambassadors programs.  This is a full-time 11-month contract position (covering for a maternity leave) reporting to the Program Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Youth of Distinction Awards (YODA)

  • Be the primary contact for the YODA program
  • Facilitate committee meetings, while motivating, engaging, inspiring the committee members and supporting youth ideas
  • Plan, organize and execute the annual YODA event, which occurs during the first week of May
  • Develop new and maintain partnerships with businesses, community agencies and volunteers
  • Assist with the development and potentially design print materials for YODA
  • Promote YODA through various social media (in conjunction with Communications Coordinator and the YODA Committee)
  • Negotiate in-kind donations for YODA

TD Youth Earth Ambassadors

  • Be the primary contact and lead for the TD Youth Earth Ambassadors program
  • Facilitate committee meetings, while motivating, engaging, inspiring the committee members and supporting youth ideas
  • Develop new and maintain partnerships with funders and community agencies
  • Facilitate committee meetings, provide support to youth ideas and coordinator projects
  • Be the primary spokesperson for the TD Youth Earth Ambassadors program

Calgary Youth Foundation

  • Be the primary contact and lead for the Calgary Youth Foundation program
  • Facilitate committee meetings, while motivating, engaging, inspiring the committee members and supporting youth ideas
  • Plan, organize and execute two granting cycles a year
  • Execute program plan and begin planning event to take place fall of 2019  
  • Ensure grants are properly distributed and reporting requirements are completed
  • Develop new and maintain partnerships with funders and community agencies
  • Be the primary spokesperson for the Calgary Youth Foundation program

Other Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all programs
  • Be an active community representative for Youth Central and a strong role model for children and youth
  • Ensure volunteers are recognized appropriately
  • Ensure volunteer hours are inputted in the Youth Central database in a timely manner
  • Writing of reports and some funding applications
  • Support to other programs when required
  • Look for opportunities for partnership and growth for the programs and Youth Central
  • Flexibility to help out with special projects as they arise

 

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-secondary education, and 1 to 3 years of related experience
  • Administrative skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with youth, and enjoys working with youth of all ages
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Personally motivated and dependable
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including some work on evenings and weekends
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude!
  • Computer knowledge of Microsoft Office (minimum requirement)
  • Experience with graphic design, Better Impact and Google Drive an asset
