Payroll Administrator

Department:  Accounting

Full time or part time: 1.0 FTE

Hours or days of work: 40 hours/week

Reports to: Controller

 

Position Summary This position has the responsibility of full cycle payroll of the organization.  This includes data collection, entry, verification of accuracy, and reconciliation of accounts. The position also serves as the primary point of contact for the organization with the external payroll services provider, Payworks.

 

Qualifications
  • Three - five years full cycle payroll experience for a mid-sized organization preferably utilizing a web-based payroll system. Knowledge of Payworks system would be considered an asset.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner(PCP)
  • Excellent time management skills are required to meet several non-negotiable deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills required to work effectively in handling employees and outside agencies in a professional manner.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, including an intermediate level working knowledge of Excel.
  • Working knowledge of payroll rules, labour standards and regulations.
  • Ability to effectively problem-solve.
  • Accounting experience and reconciliation of payroll related accounts.
  • Payroll:
    • Enter information into Payroll system for new hires, terminations and changes.
      • Review payroll information for reasonableness and accuracy prior to processing in payroll system
      • Process payroll and reconcile salary information and amounts
      • Generate ROE’s
Duties

 

  • Reporting:
    • Provide standard payroll reports to management and create special reports upon request.
    • Create and distribute annual T1/T4A, summary reports and other tax related documents.
    • Complete monthly and year-end account reconciliations.

    • General:
      • Provide payroll information to employees and resolve issues in a collaborative    manner.
      • Work with HR and outside agencies on various payroll related issues.

      • Other Accounting Duties:
        • Payroll journal entry – includes reconciliation of entry and importing into the Financial Edge ready to post.
        • Year-End assistance as required.
        • Other duties as assigned.
