Data Analyst, Individual Giving & Affinity Groups

United Way of Calgary and Area is the largest non-government source of funding for human care and community support programs in the Calgary region. United Way works with its community partners to build sustainable solutions for the future, while providing services today to improve lives of people when they need it most. United Way of Calgary and Area is looking for a full-time Data Analyst, Individual Giving & Affinity Groups to join the Individual Giving & Investor Relations team. Reporting to the Team Manager, Individual Giving & Affinity Groups, the Data Analyst will accurately and efficiently support the team with their data requirements. This position will enhance Individual Giving & Affinity Group performance by analyzing campaign trends from historical data and recommending timely action as appropriate. This role will also provide ongoing training and support for Individual Giving staff around our database, Andar. The Data Analyst will be responsible for all data management for our Individual Giving Campaign as well as managing AD Hoc reporting requests from a range of stakeholders. Responsibilities and Skills: • Manage the data required for the following assigned annual activities including: o Monitoring and campaign performance reporting. o Creation of lists for invitations, email marketing, and direct mail campaigns. o The annual thank you campaign (phone lists, email lists, cards). o Organizational volunteer tracking. o Database administration including new account setup, data entry, and training. o Ad Hoc Reporting as required. o National & Government Reporting. o Research of key accounts & trends. • Identify, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets. • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Individual Giving operations and information expectations from users. • Anticipate user information needs in Resource Development. • Develop and enhance processes that allow for “repeatable information provision”. • Identify opportunities to enhance reporting, statistical efficiency and quality of data. • Maintain prompt, professional, and courteous communication with donors, volunteers, and internal staff • Assist in implementation of new technology. Qualifications: • Ability to analyze data, look for trends, and make recommendations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required, including the ability to develop effective tracking and reporting tools. • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) with experience utilizing a large database (experience with VBA and SQL an asset). • Good understanding of basic logic operators for creation of efficient data mines. • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure. • Proven ability to take initiative and carry projects to completion with minimal supervision. • Excellent attention to detail, ability to work with numbers, and a proven track record of accuracy and academic/professional achievement. • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to work and communicate with external stakeholders in a professional manner. • Ability to present information to large internal and external groups. • Ability to maintain donor confidentiality in all activities at United Way of Calgary and Area and ensure compliance with privacy legislation.
